I am 22 years old (almost)and was dxd with epilepsy 5 years ago after being kicked in the head by my horse while preparing for a grand prix show overseas....I recovered fully, Praise the Lord and got on with my life....Then, I left for college in Aug of 2001 and only 2 months into my 1st semester in college, I had my first seizure....I learned to cope and although I was mad at the Lord, I learned to feel those feeling, give it over to him and still glorify him in what I WAS capable of doing and not focus on what I could no longer do.
Then 2 years ago I was dxd with a debilitating muscle movement disorder (generalized dystonia) and within just a few months and numerous visits to the hospital, I was w/c bound. For 18 months, I lived while sitting...I could walk in my walker but only for a short amount of time. I basically spent a ffull year in and out of various hospitals doing tets, seeing speciailists ect. My prognosis was very poor.
My miracle happened on January 5th of THIS year at 11:03 am. I told my mom while she was home for lunch I felt like I wanted ot TRY to walk....she looked at me like I had lost my noodles...but she agreed and humored me...she held my hands and I started walking! I eventually let go of her and STUNNED and amazed, I have never stopped walking since that beautiful, glorious morning. I had been in p/t, but he was shocked and had no exp-lanation, and a short while after, my foot drop had corrected, and I could walk with NO brace...!!!!!! I have a normal gait once again, there is NO sign of the dystonia, and the Drs have NO medical explanation!!!!!
For years we had been praying for a miracle and for the Lord's will to be shown in my life and that I may display whatever it is he wants me too...I just had NO IDEA it was a physical miracle such as this. I am now able to go to the beach, feel that warm beautiful sand wiggle between my toes, and watch God's beauty first hand in a way none of us thought was possible after this dx...I live my life as every day is a miracle and I am so blessed and grateful to have yet another place to share my story of God's faithfulness in my life.

YES! PRAISE BE TO JESUS! No, I am not a nurse or a p/t, I am still a college student and I live on the coast in California...so I have never met Alex, but pray one day the Lord will allow our paths to cross. It sure did knowck me over the head when I got dxd...My neck was always jerking and I was always in pain, but had no idea why until I met someone with dystonia, and things started to make sense...Boy, let me tell you how mad I was at God at first, but looking back on the situation, I am not sure I would of changed a thing as I am a TOTALLY different person in Christ since going through that storm. I am a speech communications major but am praying about switching to kinesiology....I have sevral friends in the field and since I was healed, I have a huge interest in it...we will see what the Lord has in store.
I come from a family of non believers and I have been saved for 6 years now and my brother came to Christ at a camp 2 years ago....So it is a powerful testimony for my parents ot witness such an event with no explanation from the Drs! My father is a hospital administrator and had worked at several childrens hospitals in prior years and I do have a heart for these kiddos and pray that whatever God's will is, he would use my passion and not let me "stand in the way" of HIS plans! Amen!
Everyday is a miracle, every breath is another opportunity to praise Jesus, every smile is another chance to witness to a lost soul, and I pray that is what my life would be about...What a blessing it is to be a child of the most hight King!
Much love,
kel~
