Wow, we are having some snow this winter aren't we? I thought I should put an update for it is truly the faith and prayers of belief from God's people that allow His plans to be fulfilled here on earth. I want to first make sure to ask that everyone remembers all four kids when praying for this journey is not of just one but four children. Also it is not our family, but the multitudes that have prayed, fasted, and asked God for specifics in unfolding His mighty plan. Many have felt the attacks of the enemy in walking out the process of the unfolding of those plans.Anyhoo....with winter comes the "homebound" time. ALex is so temperature sensitive that taking him out in the cold even to go to other indoor facilities, is just too risky. This year, we have the added bonus of him not being able to be up in his chair much. Translation...ALex and I(Beth) do not leave the house for months at a time. Kevin takes the other three our some but they spend more time at home than most kids their age. I say most, though, because many more than you probably realize are in situations similar to our's, it is just that you might not hear about it. So, we getting better at being at home than were the first few years we had to. ALex is getting stronger but still is not near 100%. His chair is in the process of getting ordered. To put it into perspective, his first chair was ordered in April of 2005 and came in December of 2005. The process in just not a fast one. In the meantime, two very nice men went out of their way and "tweeked" ALex's current chair with a higher back. I am also going to order a new cushion to better support his bottom. ALex's tailbone is extremely protruding which is why he HAS to be moved alot when he is up. WE are working on getting him a device to fully access the computer and maybe turn a t.v. channel or two. It is an eyegaze system. Just so you have an idea...the eyegaze system is $17.000. Nothing is cheap! I started electically stimming his muscles again soon after we got home and he is getting up on his tilit table to try to strenghten his bones and prevent deterioration in them. Alex still gets very tired and loses focus more quickly. When he is not sleepy...WATCH OUT! Alex is so witty and fun. I am truly blessed to be able to do what I do. Kevin is still working on his book and his counseling practice. Aaron loves to draw, write, and act out comedy routines. I still think he should go into acting. He can also sing which confuses the rest of us that can not carry a tune at all! Grace is a reading machine. SHe was a little challenged in the beginning, but a dear friend and teacher showed me how to back off, take it slower that the curriculum called for, be patient, PRAY, and Walaa...we have a proficient reader! Ryan is doing preschool games for fun and to keep him more focused with his high energy. EAch of the four are so unique in so many ways. We now have four BIG dogs. The fourth one wondered up a few months ago. Life presents so many twists and turns. I just do not know how you can try to navigate it without God. Blessings.
